Langtang Region is situated in the north of Kathmandu. The area extends from 32 km north of Kathmandu to Nepal and Tibet (China) border at Kyirong and Rasuwagadi. Located within Langtang National Park extends to Ganesh Himal area in the west and Helambu area and Jugal Himal towards east. Before April 2015 earthquake, Langtang valley used to receive a good number of trekkers. The number drastically dropped after the massive earthquake destroyed the Langtang valley completely. However, with time, Langtang has been gaining back its beauty. Now again, it is safe and sound for travelers. Langtang Region Trekking offers wide range of adventures, from moderately adventurous to challengingly adventurous experiences. And, it also includes beautiful and fascinating destinations where you will find yourself surrounded by high mountains of Central Himalayas. Langtang treasures wide range of spectacular landscapes- rolling green hills, beautiful valleys, high snowcapped mountains, and enchanting forest of rhododendron, pines, oaks, spruce, hemlock and fir with magnolia tree lines. This lovely forest is a good habitat for rare Red Panda, snow leopard and other wildlife and various species of exotic birds.
Trek in Langtang region starts from Syabrubesi village and Dhunche town (headquarter of Rasuwa district) leading to Langtang valley at Kyanjin Gompa with incredible views of Ghengu-Liru (Langtang II 6571m / 21,560ft), Langtang Lirung (7,425m / 23,765ft) Kimshun (6,745m / 22,137ft) and Shalbachum (6,918m / 22,699ft) to the south, where Chimsedang Lekh forms a ridge of peaks including Naya-Kanga / Ganja-la peak 5,846m and Gangchempo with Tilman’s beautiful Fluted Peak. It then continues to Jugal Himal, ending with Dorje Lakpa (6,980m / 22,929ft), and extends further east on upper meadows. Finally, Langtang range ends in a huge and massive mountain wall, forming the border with Tibet.
